Deepwells are equipped with individual submersible pumps. They are typically on wide spacing, with bore holes ranging from 18 to 48 inches. Based on subsurface conditions, they can produce from a few gallons per minute to many hundreds of gallons per minute. Deepwells are typically installed to depths of 30 to 50 feet and in free-draining soil conditions such as clean sands and gravels.
In addition to lowering the water table, a Deepwell system has the added benefit of decreasing the pressures acting on earth support systems.
